Lee Johnson

Lee Johnson was born in Wiltshire, and has lived and worked in London since 2000. He earned an MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins School of Art in 2001, and his works are held in the prestigious collections of Soho House; Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge; University of the Arts London; and numerous private collections worldwide (including UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, USA, and Australia). Private clients include world-renowned musicians, singers, actors and artists.

Johnson was selected for the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 2010, and was a finalist in the Contemporary British Painting Prize 2023 at Huddersfield Art Gallery.. In 2021 Johnson was the winner of the inaugural Lido Stores Open, Margate, resulting in a solo exhibition of his work at the gallery in August 2022.

He has exhibited widely, most notably in public institutions in the UK including Hastings Contemporary, Hastings; Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge; Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland; Huddersfield Art Gallery; and Torre Abbey, Devon. Johnson has also exhibited in many private galleries and artist run spaces in the UK and overseas, including Lab Gallery, New York, USA; Nicholas Thompson Gallery, Melbourne, Australia; Carslberg Byens Galleri & Kunstsalon, Copenhagen, Denmark; ArTower Agora, Athens, Greece; Gozo Contemporary, Malta.

Works are held in the collections of Soho House; Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge; University of the Arts London; and numerous private collections in the UK, Europe and USA.
